Outsourcing Training Improves Awareness of Occupational Hazards

Health and Safety Issue: The Milan Army Ammunition Plant (American Ordinance) has a large diverse operation and workforce. OSHA training is critical to minimizing lost time accidents and maintaining productivity schedules. Various training classes are required to meet this objective.

Approach: Pickering has developed a series of training classes that have been customized to operations at the Milan Army Ammunition Plant. These classes are delivered on site in Milan and on Milan's schedule.

Classes Include:

• Hazardous Waste Operations Training (40 hr and 8 hr refresher)
• RCRA waste operations (24 hr and 8 hr refresher)
• Stormwater Management
• Other miscellaneous regulatory/safety training as required (i.e. DOT)
• Asbestos supervisor refresher
• Asbestos worker refresher
• Asbestos O & M worker (16 hour).

Results: Milan Army Ammunition Plant employees that "know" what they need to know to safely operate at their facility.
