FedEx Ground Hubs
In March 2003, after successfully completing an addition to the Atlanta Hub and several small projects for Pittsburgh based FedEx Ground, Pickering was selected to lead the design of the Prototype for FedEx Ground’s next generation Hub. The full phase Prototype design includes an approximate 500,000 square-foot distribution hub and several smaller support buildings on a 100‑acre site.
Pickering developed civil, structural, architectural, mechanical, plumbing, fire protection and electrical design for the entire facility. In addition, Pickering was responsible for coordinating the facility requirements with the metal building manufacturer and the conveyor equipment vendor.
Following the completion of the Prototype design, Pickering continues to serve FedEx as Lead Designer for site adapting the prototype design. In addition to the new Hubs, Pickering has provided design services for renovations and additions to numerous other Hub facilities.
