Pirates Cove Interchange and Approaches

Pickering provided engineering services for the construction of an interchange at Interstate 20 between the MS 475 (Airport Road) interchange and the MS 468 (Pearson Road) interchange, and design of a four- lane roadway from US 80 and Fox Hall Road/ Pirates Cove to MS 468 (Whitfield Road) in Pearl Mississippi. This project also includes a study to determine the proper location for the addition of a third lane in each direction on I-20 from the east ramp terminals at the I-20/MS 468 (Pearson Road) interchange on the west to the west ramp terminals at the I-20/MS475 (Airport Road) interchange on the east. Adjustments of each ramp/interstate connection due to future interstate widening at each existing interchange were also included.

The project included:

• A diamond interchange including bridge design
• Signal upgrade at US 80 and Fox Hall Road
• Warrant analysis at the new alignment and Old Whitfield Road
• Warrant analysis at the new alignment and New Whitfield Road (MS 468)
• Study to determine proper location for the addition of a third lane in each direction on I-20
• Adjustment of each existing ramp terminates at MS 468 interchange and MS 475 interchange
• Modification/reconstruction of permanent signage of I-20
• Environmental permits as required
