LeFleur Lakes Flood Control Plan
The LeFleur Lakes Project, located in the fringe of the rapidly expanding City of Jackson area near the intersection of Interstate Highway 55 and Interstate Highway 20, is perhaps Mississippi’s most ambitious and complex water/urban development project in decades.
In 2005, the LeFleur Lakes Development Foundation issued a Request for Qualifications to balance flood damage reduction with significant economic development opportunities while minimizing impacts to bottom land hardwood wetlands.
This is a complex, multi-faceted project, requiring coordination and integration of a multitude of components. These components include:
- Master Land Use Plan;
- necessary infrastructure improvements;
- investment and revitalization plan;
- public recreation, open space and public facilities plan; and
- cost benefit analysis and funding plan for the selected project alternative.
